You could spend years transforming your abode into a vintage pad that would make Don Draper feel right at home. Or you could skip all the work and snap up this time-capsule ranch in Palm Springs, CA, which is back on the market for $1.7 million, listed with Kenny Jervis with Berkshire Hathaway HomeService.

Built in 1969 in the Twin Palms neighborhood, the 3,350-square-foot home comes completely furnished, so a buyer doesn’t have to scour the internet for acid-hued floral sofas or macramé wall hangings. And it’s apparent the sellers of this three-bedroom, three-bathroom property took its décor very seriously.

The purchase price includes everything “down to the coffee table books and the booze in the bar,” according to Jervis. “And the jukebox actually works.”

The listing is “being pitched to all kinds of newspapers around the U.S.,” he says of his marketing strategy. “We’re targeting the New York–L.A. movie types, the urbanites who want a time capsule. Lots of the L.A. movie crowd all have houses in Palm Springs.

“Ten percent of the country loves this design but only 1% can afford it,” Jervis says. “We’ve had really great interest but no physical offers yet.” A potential buyer from Barcelona toured the property via FaceTime and plans to fly out to see it soon.

“Two guys flew out from New York last week,” says Jervis. “They fell in love with it and then disappeared.” He points to several new hotel openings, including Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel, as driving more interest in the area.

Featured on the Netflix show “Stay Here,” the property was available as an Airbnb rental for $1,100 per night. Which means a return on investment remains a real possibility as long as you’re into the idea of opening this classic design to travelers.

And if you’re the type who abhors fix-it projects, this is your ideal property.

“Every detail of the house is in perfect condition and shape,” says Jervis. “There’s very little wear and tear.”

This vintage vibe even includes a relatively new popcorn ceiling, a request that stunned the contractor: “Nobody puts up popcorn now,” he says.

Among the home’s many charms is an all-pink master bath. Vintage velvet-flocked wallpaper in the entryway and den, combined with shag carpeting, are also true to the 1970s. A floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace in the living room is joined by wood paneling on the walls.

It’s also a home well-suited to entertaining. A three-seat bar next to the jukebox features wood paneling as a backdrop. The kitchen was updated around 18 months ago by the current owners—who have had the property for less than two years—to accommodate today’s lifestyle, adding Caesarstone countertops and hand-painted Moroccan tile flooring.

Outdoor entertaining will be a breeze for the next owners. “Everything is wrapped around the pool to enhance the mountain views,” says Jervis. This includes hedges, white rock, flowerbeds, and ficus trees.

So, a buyer’s only decision will be whether to move right into this turnkey retro palace or run it as a lucrative vacation rental. It’s truly a win-win.
