A house with a cinematic past can be all yours. For buyers in love with history and the silver screen, this opportunity in the Sunshine State is terrifically tempting.

The home on E. Stanford Street in Bartow, FL, was used for exterior shots in the 1991 movie “My Girl.”

Built in 1906, the charming yellow and blue Victorian is listed for $675,000. It last sold in 2019, for $382,500. After it landed on the market last month, plenty of curious folks clicked to check it out. The residence was our most popular home of the week in mid-July.

Movie buffs will know that the film was set in Pennsylvania, but shot in Central Florida.

In the coming-of-age drama—which starred Macaulay Culkin, Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Anna Chlumsky—the home served as the Sultenfuss Funeral Parlor, the business run by Harry Sultenfuss (played by Aykroyd).

Off-screen, the home served as the Stanford Inn Bed & Breakfast. The inn closed in 2012, but the concept could be revived by the right buyer.

For starters, the home is big enough to accommodate a number of guests. The  two-story main home measures a whopping 7,508 square feet and features six master suites. One of those suites sits on the first floor and is handicapped-accessible. Other bedrooms can be found on the second level.

Designed for whipping up large-scale meals, the commercial-style kitchen can churn out breakfast foods aplenty. The kitchen connects to a large dining area. A walk-in pantry provides plenty of food storage.

On the main floor, there are also two formal living rooms and two half-bathrooms.

The home has two staircases, one in the front and the other in the back of the house. The elegant front staircase has a Victorian feel, with intricate woodwork.

Although Florida doesn’t really require additional warmth, there are seven fireplaces in the home. They serve as cozy focal points in many of the rooms.

Outside, a welcoming porch wraps around the whole house, and the 50-foot rectangular pool boasts a new pool pump.

The main home also has two detached carriage houses. Each has a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. The listing says they will need full renovations.

There is also a one-car detached garage on the large lot.

Paid guests have not stayed in the home since the business closed, but ghosts are said to have made themselves at home.

There are reports of a noisy apparition, which is reputed to be a former owner. Some people have also reported hearing footsteps on the staircase and seeing doors open and close on their own.
